It is cleaning day, that day I attempt to remove evidence of living in my home.
Sounds strange when I put it like that, yet that is what I attempt to do.
In my home I am the chief cleaner upperer. Everyone does the quick tidy as they go. I then scoot through doing the intense, deep clean. The super dooper everything back in its place tidy.
Picking up and putting away toys, books, shoes, clothes, bags, jewels and art supplies.
Straightening cushions, lining up books and wiping surfaces of sticky hand prints.
Removing, removing, removing evidence that a person touched, moved and used an object.
If you read along regularly you know it is these potentially cranky moments that I love to flip around to find some Bliss.
House cleaning? Bliss? Let’s see how I go.
Today before I open a cupboard, before I pack away a toy, I am going to pause and acknowledge how this toy landed here. The really big amazing and incredible reason – I am a Mummy and I share my home with two incredible and busy little people.
Today I will grab my camera and capture evidence, that messy, adorable and sometimes sticky evidence that kids were here.
That messy evidence my heart will one day ache to have around.
That incredible evidence of play, fun and living.
Here goes,
My little interior designers add a touch of flare to the mantle
Nerf bullets, where there is one there will be more.
And yes I am correct
This is wormy and it does not matter how many times a day I pick him up, somehow he reappears at my feet.
Here he is again, in the kitchen
While in the kitchen I considered wearing the tiger hat left dangling on the trolley
One of those imaginative made up games.
This is too cute for words
Then there are the colourful additions to my noticeboard, melting my heart.
I would guess most of you share your home with at least one other person or creature.
Some of you may have teens, ageing parents, kids, hubbies, flat mates, dogs, cats, bunnies.
Everyone of them leaving evidence of their place in your home, your heart and your life. Dog hair on the rug, toothpaste on the vanity, toys here there and everywhere, shoes at the door, handbag on the chair, undies in the bathroom.
This week as you go about your regular tidy, pause, observe and absorb the bliss of having someone to love in and around your home.
This is Day 19 0f My 31 Days of Captured Bliss.

If this is bliss, I must be insanely euphoric! My house reminds me of my beautiful family and my busy life that must be ready to slow down one day…after the back-hoe and scaffolding disappear and I make 10 trips to the charity for toy drop off!!!! I’d like to just have bliss really…lol! 🙂
Your house is full of Bliss my wonderful friend. Evidence of a family who LIVE life to its FULLEST. That is Bliss.
This is such a wonderful reminder to savor your children’s creative minds and the ways they display their imaginations.
Deirdre I have creativity on display that is for sure
Love this!!! What a happy way of viewing a mess 🙂 I will think about this when I’m stepping over tinker toys!!
Hatton happiness in the mess, enjoy
That’s a fabulous way to look at some of the clutter. I’m past the little kids part of clutter, but hubby and a dog named Wilson keep me on my toes. Thank you for a great perspective!
Lee dogs and hubbies don’t grow out of their mess either
The Nerf bullet melted my heart; my son loves playing with those. I’m going to do this one day, before cleaning. Thank you for sharing!
Sarah those nerf bullets manage to land everywhere.
How wonderful to think of the toys left around not as clutter but as reminder of the remarkable little people who live under your roof. (And perhaps to realize that there will come a day that you wish their toys were still strewn about!) I LOVE this bliss series!
Mo I am sure I will long for this mess one day
That’s a nice way to put a positive spin on those daily chores that never seem to get DONE.
Adrian a positive spin gets me through some days
There is lots of untidiness going on here! My house looks very lived-in…LOL!
Lived in equals Bliss Michelle
Stopping by from the SITS Sharefest! Cheers!
Wonderful! I am going to try this. I just got to your post (found it on SITSSharefest) and I am lounging on the sofa on Sunday morning because… I had minor surgery on Thursday & today I noticed my bandaging was full of bloodiness. The surgery is on my back, so I can’t see it and you know, out of sight, out of mind? Well, today I was convinced I need to just relax a little and not worry how tidy my house is!! Your photos & story are restorative for me. I wish I had known about 31 days of bliss earlier!
Oh Julie you have added a mountain of bliss to my day, thank you. Rest up and enjoy the Sharefest read, I never seem to get to as many blogs each week as I would like, and I know there are some awesome reads out there. take care of your back and I am sure we will speak again soon.
You’re right! My home is full tons of bliss–I think it can do with a little less right now, lol! Thanks for linking up with Bloggers Brag Pinterest Party! I’ve pinned your post to the Bloggers Brags Pinterest Board!
I think the Smurfs on the mantle are my favorite. Just awesome!
Elizabeth, those Smurfs seemed to appear everywhere for weeks. They are very cute though.
Awesome outlook on living with kids. I too am trying to see our mess/stuff as evidence that people live in this house, and are loved here. It’s hard sometimes but I admire your viewpoint!
Oh Meg, it is very hard at times to see the mess in a joyful way. It brings peace to my home and mind and allows space for my children to express themselves without constraint. This all makes it worth it.
I can totally relate to that Karen. I have a dog and sometimes my cousin leaves her kids with me, they always make a mess around the house but it does not bother me at all because I love having company, truly a heartwarming post. Keep it up 🙂
Jessica thank you and continue to enjoy the happy mess’s in your home.
Well, these are the adorable messes, you can’t avoid them, they are not fatal, and no matter how much you try to clean them, they keep reappearing somehow. The important part is for the house to be an overall clean and healthy place to live in. As long as you don’t have mould and wall cracks, pests or tons of dust, you’ll be just fine. The other cleaning tasks can wait a little, nothing will happen if you miss washing the dishes or vacuuming the carpet once.
I have seen that most of the Green cleaners Team mainly follow the traditional mode of cleaning. It is time- consuming and expensive. But this company introduced some new mode of cleaning carpets. I will always avail of their service
It makes my home very attractive. And always pull everyone to himself.
