I did it! Yes another challenge ticked off “The List”, (you can read about “The List” here.)
I was in the Mosh Pit at a concert. Yes Me!
For such a long time I was a gunna when it came to concerts.
A big act would come to town and everyone seemed to have tickets. Tickets purchased months earlier. Months earlier when I was saying “I am gunna buy tickets tomorrow, I am gunna ask some friends to come, I am gunna, gunna, gunna. My gunna had become I am not going.
I changed this pattern a few years back, I challenged myself to choose 2 concerts or shows a year and to just get in and book. I now join the excitement, the anticipation of a show when my favourite artist comes to town.
My tickets are always in the stands, sitting, enjoying the show and yet wondering what it is like to be close, very close. How do people get up the front?
I added a front row at a concert to my list.
To my amazement earlier this year the opportunity presented itself, yes I was to be part of the euphoria, jumping up and down front row at a concert, The P!nk Concert.
I never quite realised just how close we were going to be. That I would feel as if I had actually met P!nk, we were that close.
Needless to say, I sang, I danced, I absorbed every blissful moment surrounded by some of her most dedicated fans. A truly magical night to remember.
I could stop here with this fun loving story but there was a message,a moment that resonated with me. A moment to ponder and to share.
After almost an hour of watching P!nk sing, dance and complete highly artistic trapeze moves I was in awe of her strength, stamina and talent. How does she do it?
I was about to find out.
She stepped out in a long flowing skirt, barefoot she walked over and stood in front of a piano. She looked so vulnerable.
Then she spoke these few words and they sang to my soul
Every tour I like to do something challenging, scary and intelligent. This is my scary. I have learnt a song to play to you tonight on the piano.
Wow, isn’t singing on stage scary, hanging from a trapeze challenging and pulling together this incredible show intelligent.
And that was it, the key to accomplishment, fulfilment, pride, to a life well lived.
It is about constantly challenging yourself, stimulating your mind and stepping out of your comfort zone. To creating the chance to wrap yourself in a sense of achievement, to bask in the glory of surviving a life with scary moments and to finding the magic outside your comfort zone.
As P!nk sat and began playing the piano I understood that my life is my tour and it can never be enough.
As different as our tours are our desire for personal growth and stimulation is much the same.

Here are the things that take me out of my comfort zone. Being the new girl, a new mum to a different school, a new participant in a class, or the newbie at a new place of work. Falling over in public, and being rescued by complete strangers. I am up on my feet and out of there so fast, telling everyone I am OK, and pretending I didn’t hurt myself…AHHH. Finally unsolicitored compliments take me out of my comfort zone, I am always happy to offer them, but find them hard to receive.
Sara there is some magic outside of that comfort zone. What a beautiful share. Thanks
