I will go for a brisk walk,
Then jump in the shower.
I will be ready in a jiffy,
These words have such power.
I will quickly dash here,
Grab this on the way through.
I speak like I am busy,
Even when it is not true.
I will race over here,
And drop quickly in there.
I will be brief, just like lightning.
The hurry not clear.
I pull in the drive
My catch cry lets out.
Lets’ go, lets’ go,
Don’t muck about.
Quickly grab your bags,
Why are you moving so slow?
Get out of the car,
What are you waiting for?
“What is the hurry?” I hear.
“Where are we off to now Mum?”
“What more must we do?”
They both look so glum.
We have nowhere to be,
The bizarre truth of it all.
No reason to hurry,
No reason at all.
The light bulb went off,
As I looked at their face.
What am I hurrying for,
There is no need for such haste.
Instant, speedy and fast
The words I do choose.
Let’s move it along,
Kills the chance to feel loose.
Continual haste, is my mantra
Speed up, say my words,
Go faster, go faster,
Is all that is heard.
I am not always busy,
No need for the rush.
Change the words, change the feeling,
My kind of buzz.
I am off for a leisurely walk,
I shall browse along the way.
Ease myself out of bed,
Serene throughout the day.
Choose to float and to wander,
Maybe drift into a shop,
Pause and absorb,
Feel fabulous to just stop.
Steady gets me there,
Gradual sounds good.
Relaxed and composed,
I changed what I could.
The words that we choose,
Create feelings inside.
Try mixing it up,
And then enjoy the new ride.
Do you speak as if always in a hurry? What words could you change?
Let me know in comments below.

Ugh, yes. I really hate that I do this but I’m constantly talking about time and I do believe my kids are too young to be thinking that way. I try not to use the “L” word (late) too much, but I slip a lot.
Mine is the “H” word. Hurry Up, hurry, quick lets hurry.
Yes zipping though life way too quick. Time to enjoy kids pace for a while.
Oh, wow. I could FEEL the difference as the words changed. Words have such power, seemingly innocent, benign words, but oh, what they convey. This was amazing, Karen. Glad I found you on SITS today. Have a beautiful Saturday!
Thanks Topaz, enjoy your weekend too.
Love this. Sometimes I rush far too much and every so often when I do take a deep breath and slow down a bit, I find I can breathe so much easier.
Tricia it is amazing how much we can constrict our own breath as we race around.
Breathe, relax and enjoy.
Love this and the overall feel of your website. I think we hurry so much in our lives, and we forget to really enjoy the moment. It is a constant process of learning to stay focused in the present moment, and viewing each day as a gift.

Leslie it delights me to know you enjoyed the fee of my web home, I am very proud of my humble abode. The slowing down and enjoying the moment sounds easier than it is. Yes an ongoing challenge for me too.
