You make a decision, you learn to say no, you begin lightening your load.
Then one day……the busyness ends.
There is no list.
There is no schedule.
There is space.
Open wide space.
Open wide scary space.
Open wide scary space that holds possibility.
Open wide scary space that holds possibility and endless choice.
There is freedom in choice.
There is ownership in choice.
You sit in the space.
You sit uncomfortably in the space.
You sit uncomfortably in the space and wonder.
You sit uncomfortably in the space and consider the choices.
You sit uncomfortably in the space and hear the whispers of your intuitive voice.
“It is okay to be still.”, “It is okay to feel good.”
You feel incredibly wise and clear.
You sit longer and breathe deeply.
You sit longer and embrace the feeling of the earth beneath you.
You sit longer and delight in the melodies of nature.
You feel light and free.
You open up within the expanse.
It feels different and unusual.
You feel exposed and vulnerable.
The mind chatter begins……..
“You are lazy”, “Get up and do something”, “You are wasting time.”
You grab the familiar messages, you buy back in and you shift.
Becoming frustrated and agitated.
The stillness is now annoying.
The choices frightening.
You seek the comfort of busy.
Unimportant tasks feel like an itch you must scratch.
You fidget, you move, you can no longer be still.
The space is gone, the busyness is back.
You return to what you know.
And so you remain in a task filled life, dragged along by urgency and comforted the waves of busyness.
Before you fill in the gaps ask yourself ::
Is my busyness taking me closer to how I want to feel and what I truly want or am I filling up uncomfortable space?
There is safety in the busy….. “I had no choice.”
There is comfort in the busy….. “I had to get it done.”
There is relief in the busy……”Sorry no time to talk.”
You search for your value in the busy……”I am worthy, look how much I got done.”
Reserve your busy for what matters most to YOU and sit courageously in the still.
This is YOUR one great life and it is up to YOU to lead it fabulously.

Love this, Karen.
There’s nothing like being forced to take time out from what would have been a busy day to sit still and enjoy the moment. Even if it did take a pulled muscle to get there, it was good to just sit and be still. At least until the kids jumped on me. 🙂
I was just talking to a friend about busyness and how important it is to just be with ourselves sometimes. It’s important to listen to that which we’re running away from, even though it’s so uncomfortable. Thank you for this.
That awkward space contains so much learning for us. Learning to sit still in it takes practice and is well worth it.
