Organisational Bliss

October 4, 2013 By Karen Main 2 Comments

“Outer order leads to Inner Calm.”  Gretchen Rubin

I have had an itch for weeks now.  The sensation growing stronger desperate for my attention, wanting me to attend to it.

I have resisted, I wanted the time to do this well.  The time I gain when the kids are on school holidays.

Yes, I have more time then.

The fact is I spend less time running around in the car, sitting watching swimming lessons and gymnastics.  I have large blocks of uninterrupted time.

Time to spend on organisation.

The places in my home that are “so so” – semi organised.  The cupboards that have been rummaged though time and time again, someone looking, searching and then shoving things back.

The drawers and hangers adorned with clothes not worn all season.  The impulse buys that were worn once or twice and then contained too much guilt to be thrown away.

The unused, outgrown, not needed, indulgence purchases, all cluttering up our home.

The decision to start is the only difficult part for me.  I love to completely empty things, drawers, containers, cupboards.  I have a bag for the rubbish, a bag for charity and away I go.

Room by room I work my way through the house over a matter of weeks.  It is an annual ritual I thoroughly enjoy.

Enjoy, yes the pleasure keeps on coming for days and weeks.  No nagging corners of mess, no rummaging for lost items, everything has a place.

My Organisational Bliss.

At least until Christmas.

Do you find pleasure or pain in organisation?

PS. I haven’t finished…..

I so want to be more organized, but am not there yet! It is a very slow process for me and sometimes I never finish one project before I move on to the next. Still working though! One day I will be!

    Thanks for the motivation!
