One on One Bliss

The atmosphere was crazy.

Cries of “Have you seen my……..?????” rang out.

Don’t forget your toothbrush.

Put your shoes on please.

“I am going now, jump in the car, yes, yes I will drop her off on the way.”

Bye, Bye, Kiss, Kiss……

Silence.

I turned around and there he stood,  all of his six years gazing up at me.  Just the two of us for now.

“Well its just you and me little buddy, what shall we do?”

I will admit there was a momentary desire to whack on the TV for him, grab the laptop for me.  Knowing we would both be easily amused, happy in our own little worlds.

or

I could devour this opportunity to connect and create a memory and a moment.  Nothing extravagant, that wasn’t the point, it was about quality time together, one on one, doing something we both enjoy.

We headed down to the local cinema and bought tickets to see Turbo.  Then we headed over to our new favourite restaurant for a quick bite to eat.

As we sat and shared our chips we chatted about the day, school, friends and my photos.  Getting to know each other as people.

The moment was calm and relaxed, it was the two of us.  He was not competing for attention, no sister or Dad.  I wasn’t shifting my focus either, no friends, hubby or other children.  I have written about my celebrity potential before here.

He had me and I had him, all to ourselves.

We shared an ice cream and then watched the movie.

Driving home I did not want our moment to end.  Once in our pyjamas we read a story in my big bed.   Then as I watched his eyelids flutter and he peacefully drifted off to sleep, his hand holding mine,  I knew this was Bliss.

Do you find Bliss in one on one interactions, those moments when two people connect, really connect?

You have such a way with words! I love the way you described the day filled with bliss. It sounds like a lovely time with your son. I long for these times.

Yvonne agree, one on one time with someone is so good for us and them. This has become more evident to me since having kids and one on one time with anyone is rare.
