How often have you clicked on those articles promising easy steps to self care, only to be confronted with pictures of yogis on a beach and hammocks strung between palm trees.
You say to yourself you need a break, you need some more ME time and you lust after it.
The optimist within springs to life and you consider the possibility of a quiet bubble bath tonight….. if only the kids actually fall asleep before you do.
Maybe you could organise a lunch this weekend with a few of the girls….. if only you can find someone to car pool the kids to basketball.
Or maybe you could squeeze in a facial after work….. if you skip lunch and leave early.
What if self care was easier than this???
What if saying no to anything on a Wednesday night, to simply sit and enjoy your favourite TV show, is your act of self care???
What if walking the dog on your own, in absolute silence, is your act of self care???
What if saying no to a take away coffee and instead sitting down in the cafe and savouring the atmosphere is your act of self care???
What if leaving your desk and spending half an hour flicking through a magazine while eating lunch is your act of self care???
What if a treatment at the hairdresser is your act of self care???
What if cooking your favourite meal tonight is your act of self care???
What if reading this blog right now is your act of self care???
What if self care is as simple as being intentional, declaring the moment as yours, and then wholeheartedly diving into that something, acknowledging it is just for you?
Would you then have time for self care?
My question for you today……..Could you already be taking great care of yourself and not realising it?
