I’ve just returned from a whirlwind week working in Melbourne.
A week of growth, success and achievement, all driven by my own actions.
I’ve felt valuable, focussed and determined…. Feelings I’ve not had a lot of this year.
I was in my element again, teaching, connecting and supporting people to live dream lives in wellness.
And the biggest growth moment of all was when I answered this question…. How does it feel to have achieved your big dream?
My answer, I’m not there yet.
That’s the challenge, and gift, of chasing big, crazy dreams (the dreams that seem too big to want), they continue to evolve and you never quite get there.
If I was climbing a mountain I’d tell you I’m on my way up, not at the summit.
And that’s the tricky part, how do you love what you’ve got while still wanting more.
Where I am right now is amazing and yet while holding back I’m losing touch with that expansive feeling of growth and achievement.
I’m all for a pause to restore after a big ass haul, but looking back I realise I’ve paused for too long and I’ve begun slipping backwards.
But if we are all go-go-go, next-next-next we risk missing the acknowledgement of achievement…. Such a fine line we walk.
That’s why its crucial to have goals, intentions, milestones that you aim for, and rejoice at, along the way to a big ass dream.
Moments when you pause to love what you have and recognise your achievements. High fiving yourself for where you are and how you got there.
It’s a recipe of mindfulness, awareness and gratitude wrapped in a bow of celebration.
Like watching the sunset over the back fence and truly appreciating where you live.
Pausing to listen to your kids giggling together knowing you’re blessed to be raising little people.
Hugging your partner and feeling the warmth of their chest knowing your committed to each other and are building a life together.
Looking at the deposits in your bank statement and owning the contribution you make.
The life of my greatest dreams is more than a big move north. It’s a dream that was born decades ago and continues to evolve everyday.
Don’t ever be afraid to declare and want your wildest dreams.
Pave the way with a blend of gutsy goals and realistic steps. They’re the stepping-stones to pause at, celebrate and then move through.
I’m not there yet and I bet you’re not either.
I’m on the move again and with each glorious step my view of the summit expands.
Remember there’s no dream that’s too big to want and it’ll be your big, small and micro actions that’ll overcome your doubt and reveal new opportunities.
So what are you waiting for?
