My imagination has been running wild this week with the stirrings of something NEW.
I don’t have words to describe it yet. It’s a feeling right now. An urge that’s directing me toward a path, with ideas scattered along it like breadcrumbs for me to collect.
It’s spawning thoughts that have me waking early, scribbling in notebooks and jotting ideas in my phone all day.
I’m hearing possibilities in conversations and finding inspiring quotes and images across social media, that all point toward this same idea.
I’m gathering them all up, knowing once I have enough I’ll understand the vision for this dream.
Yes, that’s right I’ve got the stirrings of another dream. It’s not something new. In fact I’ve played with this idea a few times before.
But I wasn’t ready to nurture it then. My environment wasn’t ready to support it. I was too bogged down with physical and mental clutter.
Most of all, I was full of my own excuses. I was supporting old patterns of thinking and allowing them to block any view of this idea being possible.
I was the master at getting in my own way, not wanting to risk anything and trying to live emotionally safe.
I was avoiding failure and disappointment by doing nothing and yet I was dissatisfied and unfulfilled.
I was putting the needs of others ahead of my own desires and still I worried that I wasn’t enough.
I was scared to commit to anything different and risk losing what I already have, even though I wasn’t satisfied or truly happy.
I was actively ignoring my yearnings and squashing ideas.
But I’m not playing so safe right now. I’m backing my ability to overcome challenges and ride the waves of change as I follow my desires more.
I’m freely exploring my imagination, allowing it to run wild and free, because it should not be contained by my worries or constricted by my tales of days gone by.
Because… Our imagination is more powerful than memory, and it taps into possibilities that are unlimited.
Memory however is limited, held tight by past events.
Instead of turning away from your dreams free up your imagination and you’ll discover the magic of limitless ideas.
Become curious and you’ll allow your imagination to reveal more. Give yourself permission to play, experiment, and even get things wrong.
Soon you’ll be capturing ideas everywhere, and collecting them like puzzle pieces that will reveal a great vision.
A vision you must write down, because seeing words on paper makes your dreams more real.
So how do you recognise the early stirrings of a dream?
You feel it and then you imagine it. Maybe as you linger over your sister’s holiday snaps and see yourself standing under the Eiffel Tower.
You admire and even envy it. You drool over your friend’s new kitchen and want to run home and fix your house. You get those envious pangs as your co-worker tells you she’s cutting back her hours.
Even your complaining is a sign for change and wanting more. So what are you complaining about right now? What’s not working in your life? What do you want instead?
You wish you had more time, more money. Most people do. But ask yourself other than time and money what do you really want? And what does that feel like? Do you want to feel fulfilled, grounded, balanced, connected, free, light, content…. How can you feel this way?
Write down whatever your thinking, do not censor or stifle your thoughts. Stir up your imagination and allow it space to play. You’ll then keep noticing more.
And here’s the best bit….
Once you USE YOUR IMAGINATION (and the dreams it creates), as your guide for making decisions, your subconscious mind will seize experiences and opportunities and use them to create your reality.
All things are created twice, first mentally and then physically. So shape your future by using your imagination to create a vision first.
That’s how future dreams become real. And the magic happens.
