It was three years ago……..
I was listening intently to the web designer as she patiently guided me around my husband’s business website.
She was teaching me how to navigate the back-end of his website so in future we could make minor changes ourselves.
We had been playing around for a while and I was prattling on about how much I enjoyed learning new things. At one point she said to me, “Why don’t you get your own website?”
I all but fell off my chair.
What for? What would I use a website for?
I was working part time as my husband’s administration manager and I was a Mum.
I could never have a website.
The seed was planted.
This idea, as strange as it seemed, would not leave me alone.
A little niggle now followed me around. Very subtlety tapping my shoulder over and over again.
I loved reading blogs and I now began to read them with a different curiosity.
Could I start my own blog?
Could I actually have a website?
Well, as they say, the rest is history because here you are reading blog post number 279.
I could never…..eventually became what if I could?
What if I could…….evolved into how can I make this happen?
And my seed of possibility flourished.
There are many I could nevers that pass through our mind.
Some ideas will literally pass right on through and others will linger.
They cling to us, tempting and even taunting us to explore possibility.
We stifle these ideas with I could never beliefs.
We limit ourselves with these thoughts too.
The next time you hear yourself say I could never, imagine just for a moment, that you actually could.
In fact take a moment now to list the things you are telling yourself you could never do.
Write for at least 3-5 minutes. Keep going until you reach the rich, juicy ones hidden away.
Now highlight those ideas that excite you. The ones you feel pulling you forward.
Next comes the fun bit, become curious, explore your ideas, dream, journal and imagine the possibilities.
You might surprise yourself with where it takes you.
