There I sat, my leg frantically tapping beneath table as my eyebrow began to twitch.
The MC started to introduce me and my chest squeezed tight. My plan to glide gracefully onto the stage forgotten, as I began to pant like a dog.
Was I ready?
The next 30 minutes remain a blur.
A haze of strange faces staring up at me from the large crowd. Reassuring nods (that I will be eternally grateful for) spurred me on, as I released a flurry of words I can’t remember.
I was scared, I was terrified and yet it all felt incredibly good.
It began months ago, when I was asked to speak at the local council’s business expo.
I have often admired speakers and realise now I had a secret desire to become a speaker myself one day.
This was my chance.
I view opportunities as doors opening to new adventures and experiences in life.
We can choose to take a peak, to even step through, knowing the view from the other side will be vastly different.
This is where growth happens and this excites me.
This was a big door opening for me and I felt both privileged and grateful. I wasn’t ready and I still said YES. Trusting in my ability to make it happen, and comforted by the fact I had a few months to prepare.
One week out the fear kicked in, I was about to stand up and speak to 100 plus people and I wasn’t ready.
I needed more……..what?
I needed to know more about……. what?
I needed to have……what?
The fact is I was as ready as I could ever be.
What I needed most is experience and the only way to get that is to leap and learn.
So there I was leg shaking, eye twitching and gasping for air and I was ready.
Ready to learn.
Ready to grow.
Ready to step away from comfort.
Ready to take a dream one step closer to reality.
Indulging the idea of not being ready will hold you back and eventually kill your dreams.
You are ready now.
You are ready to say yes show up and learn all you can.
You are ready to try something new and see how it feels.
You are ready for a life you love.
You are ready to lead the way.
When opportunities show up trust you are ready.
Trust in the knowledge and experience you bring with you to this moment in time.
Trust the universe to deliver that which you are ready for and then step forward to greet it.
Trust you have enough.
Trust you are enough.
This is your one great life, don’t wait until you are ready to start living it.
