Last week I shared my simple Year In Review questions, that I use to harvest my learnings from the previous 12 months and kick off a celebration of my growth and achievements.
Hopefully you carved out time to reflect on your year gone by too.
Now its time to switch our focus forward, stirring up Possibility as we Prepare to Set Goals for the year ahead.
How do you want 2019 to be?
What do you want to achieve?
Which relationships would you like to nurture and strengthen?
What’s already planned and/or sitting on your horizon this year?
What challenges do you anticipate?
What will you need to learn, and how will you grow throughout 2019?
Not sure where to begin, don’t fret!
I’ve got 6 simple questions that will prepare you to set meaningful goals for 2019.
You with me! Let’s do this…..
Set aside 20 – 30 minutes and find somewhere to relax and sit with these questions.
When thinking about what you want, forget the HOW for now- it will clog you up. This phase is a deep exploration of what you want and desire, the how will come later.
- What 5 things do you most want to achieve in the year ahead?
Big, small, or somewhere in between, what will you be proud to say you did or became in the coming year?
- What challenges do you anticipate in the year ahead?
What do you expect to be hard, heavy, difficult? What will you need to deal with and overcome?
- What do you want to learn in the coming year?
What do you need in order to grow? Where will you stretch yourself?
- What relationships would you like to nurture and develop?
Who inspires, supports and encourages you? What relationships are you missing? Which relationships will you intentionally work on?
- What would you like to do/create to make a difference in the world this year?
How will you help others, family, community, colleagues, strangers.
- What will you do to feel good and have fun this year.
This is a juicy question. Knowing how you want to feel is the greatest guide of all.
How do you feel reading your answers? What are the highlights?
What are you most excited about? What are you most afraid of? Circle them both.
Now take a deep breath and feel into all that you are aiming for. All you are becoming. Absorb this fully.
Goal Setting isn’t always easy. But trust me, preparation makes it effective.
I know preparation takes time. Give yourself this gift of time.
You’re worth it!
