I did it
Feeling superlicious right now, knowing I did something amazing for me, for my health.
I Love that feeling smack bang after a workout, knowing I did something so good for my physical self.
Ok I also love the fun, bright, colourful workout gear, you know those clever t-shirts with slogans like “Do More of What Makes you Happy”
I love meeting up with the gang at my regular classes, the social connections.
Above all I love contributing to my own vitality.
Sounds awesome…… it is.
But wait…..I don’t for a minute want this to all sound easy, it often isn’t.
I can be too tired plus too busy, which then equals to too cranky and unmotivated.
I have a topsy-turvy relationship with my fitness routine.
I get frustrated when life is busy and I haven’t scheduled fitness time.
There are days when I struggle to get going, excuses outweigh motivation.
Here is an example. I happily trained with weights for many years. Enjoying the time on my own complimented by a regular session with my amazing, personal trainer brother, you can check out his biz here.
Then earlier this year I struggled for motivation, I wanted different, I wanted outdoors, I wanted more social, I wanted a new challenge.
I spend a lot more time on my own now, working at home, indoors, writing. I no longer enjoyed working out inside and alone too.
As my life structure altered my overall desires changed. It was time to spice things up, sprinkle in some variety and a challenge.
I use simple strategies for a motivational boost, like funky coloured socks and headbands. I want to workout so I can wear them.
I will create a new playlist, totally grooving to songs is a must. Try to stop anything while listening to “I am a Woman on a Mission, whoa……”
Then there are new workouts to try. The endless variety of classes, CRX, TRX, swimming, Pump, Step, Aqua. What about bike riding ,walking, running, dancing to the Wii (love that).
Remember my yoga discovery. Love love loving that Monday class which now has me bounding into my week like a happy puppy.
Today I climbed 1000 steps at the local National Park, outdoors in nature and loving it. I am training for a 5okm (31 mile) walk in November with a group of ladies, my challenge and my social.
I have held onto my staples, my steadies, my constant loves, like Pilates. I work it all in, I have created a new weekly schedule, one that I look forward to, one that fits in with me.
I have my fitness rhythm back, a routine, a gorgeous dance.
Fitness and my life are in synch and that my friends is bliss.
Are you out of synch with your fitness? Want to move and enhance your health? Not sure how to start? Realistically, find one thing you enjoy and schedule it weekly. That is your platform and you can continue to build from there.
Fitness is not a one size fits all, it is not about doing the same thing week in week out for ever. Change things around keep it interesting and aim to be in synch with your life.
What one thing would you change this week to take you closer to feeling your bliss?
