I patiently sit, watching, waiting for the recycle bin to be emptied. Desperately looking forward to removing those last piles of wrap and packaging from the zillion toys and treats handed out over Christmas
As I sit near the window, one eye is on the road the other is on my computer screen. I am also doing a virtual clean up today.
It begins with the sorting, tidying and reorganising of my ever-growing photo library. Move to folder, create new folder, delete duplicates, oh how cute, look at this one, remember this. Distracting work as I continue to goo and gahh remembering an incredible year of wonderful moments. Even more distracting when I decide to make a quick Flipagram of the year.

Next my online storage account with Dropbox. This has become my online dumping ground for all those images and files I am not sure I even need and yet somehow want to keep. Move to folder, delete, create new folder, delete.
Onto my usually meticulously maintained email accounts. There are no words for the mess they seem to be in after that last-minute retail storm hit days before Christmas. I will be honest I stopped reading all the flashy offers and dazzling deals weeks ago. Delete, delete, read and delete.
Finally my bulging list of unread posts on Bloglovin. This is my little reading haven, the place I collect all the blogs I follow to read and absorb when time allows. Yes you guessed it, time did not allow room for a whole lot of blog reading lately and I now have 300+ unread posts. Skim, read, mark as read, then skim some more, mark as read.
For ten months of the year I am diligently organised, I even schedule weekly blocks of time to sort and tidy my computer related files, just like I clean the house.
Then November hits and the weekly tidy becomes the whenever tidy. By December I am in such a mess it has become a huge job and I HAVE NO SPARE TIME.
So here I am doing the mega, major, overhaul, the big clean up and it feels amazing, great, fabulous even.
Would it be strange to make this a conscious habit, to let it all hang out for those few months at the end of the year to increase the pleasure of a great big clean up.
What do you think?
Oohhhh and here comes the rubbish truck!
A crazy grin hits my face as I gaze around the home. Watch out kids this Mum is on a mission.
Yes that virtual mess has made it into reality too. The sparkly adorable ornaments so proudly hung a month ago now feel like messy clutter invading every nook and cranny of our home. Their beautiful job over for yet another year. As I pull out the boxes and pack them away I knowingly smile to myself……A fresh new fabulous year awaits.
