I don’t have a formulae for bliss. There is no recipe either.
I cannot draw you a map or even take you there myself.
Bliss can land smack bang in your lap one day and elude you all day the next.
Bliss can seem almost mythical at times existing only in memories and fairy tales.
I do believe moments of bliss can be a reality for all of us.
So where is it, how do we know when we have it? How do we get ourselves some?
Bliss is described as extreme happiness, ecstasy and supreme joy. It is a feeling, a state of mind, a surge of chemicals through our body.
What brings on bliss is as unique to each of us as our fingerprints. This is what makes it so difficult to define and find and is also what makes it so amazing.
Bliss loves happiness they are awesome buddies. When I am happy bliss sneaks in the door, I often wonder if happiness invites him over.
Getting to know happiness, your happiness makes way for bliss.
Lean into moments that for no reason feel good. Feelings of inner strength, sureness. Deep stirrings of excitement causing your mouth to curl up. Unexpected calm, relief in a hectic day. Clarity during confusion.
Allow yourself to get caught up in these moments. Exaggerate your smile, embellish your thoughts, swing your arms as you walk, breathe a little deeper.
Too busy? Take a quick mental snapshot of where you are and how you feel. Maybe take a quick photo. Relive it later, maybe in the car before you drive home, as you sit to take off your shoes, when you look up in the mirror to brush your teeth. Go back, enjoy and feel it all again, discover what brings on these feelings, tap into your personal happiness?
This was my moment yesterday. These Iris grow beside the path at my Mum and Dad’s home. I was racing in to collect my daughter before heading home to work through the to do list. My mind was in a hundred places. Mum was following me to the car as I hesitated to admire her garden. Then as we stood I noticed the droplets of water balancing on the delicate petals. That moment in nature easy to miss and fascinating to observe. I whipped out my phone to get this photo, while Mum assisted and encouraged me. Late yesterday as I uploaded my photos I remembered not just the flowers in this photo and the beads of water. I remembered a moment with my Mum, the two of us capturing something special.
This is happiness. No need to question or judge it, get to know it. Look for more of it each day. Acknowledge it, caress it, love it.
Simple regular happiness is your unique key, opening the door to bliss.

This is such a great moment and reminder to stop and simply breath and pause. Life can be hectic but we all need those simple pauses at times…for bliss. Thank you for sharing.
What a beautiful shot! Along with a sweet moment.
My moment of bliss today is sitting in bed with the window open and finally a cool, gentle breeze making its way in. Smells good. Feels good. All is good!
Beautiful post and series, can’t wait to check them all out
Angie thanks for visiting my 31 days series, it scared me to take on and yet I had such a groove on by the end I wanted to never stop. Plan to do it again this October, you might like to join in.
