There it is another month complete.
I am often asked questions about my 365 Project, that is taking one photo every day for 365 days.
Today I am giving you an insight into how I embrace my 365 Project in daily life.
Most months I follow the prompts by Fat Mum Slim. There is a wonderful and supportive community following the FMS prompts and you can choose to join them in a Facebook group and on Instagram by using #FMSphotoaday. Joining the group gives you a chance to see, and be inspired by, how other photo takers interpret the very same prompt. You can also interact with people, share tips and ideas while liking and commenting on each others photos. All the details to join in for February can be found here.
Each morning I look at my prompt and the creative zing begins to build. I like to give myself all day when possible to complete the photo, enjoying the thrill as my eyes dart around studying my environment and looking for inspiration and opportunity. I now see my everyday world from a unique perspective and one filled with wondrous possibility.
How do you find time for photoaday?
I do not restrict myself to using my Fancy Pants DSLR and often use my IPhone for the convenience.
- It is always with me.
- The photo does not have to be uploaded from my camera later, saving me time.
When I do have time I like to stage the photo. The kids love joining in and offer many great suggestions.
The chance to involve the kids in my hobby is one of the best things about photoaday.
Many photos, like this one, are taken as I am out and about capturing the breathtaking moments in my everyday life.
How do you remember to do it?
Today will be day 216 of my 365 project and remembering to take the photo is like remembering to brush my teeth, I feel like something isn’t right or is missing until I do it.
The app I use to create my calendar collages is called Collect and you can set it with a daily reminder, mine still goes off at 6pm just in case.
When will you stop?
I do have plans to stop after day 365, hoping to enjoy the break and to also see if I miss it.
What app do you use?
Apps, apps apps. I do use lots of apps these are just a few of my favourites.
I take all my iPhone photos using the Procamera app and I like to edit using Snapseed.
My greatest find last month was Pixlr Express which is an online editing page and an app. The incredible splash function changes a photo to black and white while leaving behind one colour of your choice, creating photos like this one.
My collages are made using either Picmonkey online or by using the Instacollage app on my phone.
What do I have planned for February?
This month I am using my 365 Project to assist me in establishing a gratitude practice. I am joining in with the lovely Courtney at Click it up a Notch and taking the #28lovelydays challenge.
Each day in February I will take a photo of something I love and I am grateful for. You can follow along on my Facebook page and Instagram.
Now how do I take a photo of all of you, my wonderful readers? Very grateful.
Have a fabulous day.

I love your process!
I have a fancy pants camera, as you say (I like it), and an iPhone. I use both. The best camera is the one on you, they say. The best camera I say is the one on you that you know how to use, and can share from it easily! That’s my quote.
Tamara I agree, easy sharing makes the world of difference some days.
Your photos always make me smile. You can see your heart in it which makes it that more special. I wonder if that Pixlr Express app is on Android, when I am done here, I’m gonna go find out. I loved that pic of your son sleeping, and wanted to ask how you did it. 🙂
Thanks Tami, that app was such a great find I hope you can get it on your phone. There is a website you cna use as well. Good Luck
I’ve been using my iPhone camera more! I find that I take more pictures that way. And honestly, the best camera is the one you have with you at the time. I don’t always have my good camera with me!
Michelle I love using my phone and I can often get more interesting angles with it as well.
Your pictures are gorgeous. You have been generous with your knowledge in this post. Thank You. !
My absolute pleasure Sarah.
