As I sit down to write this weeks round-up I cannot remove the huge cheesy grin from my face. You see in my house today the TV is off, the Ipad hasn’t left the bench and the kids are lost in a world of magic and make-believe. We went to the Royal Melbourne Show yesterday, and courtesy of the dress ups that came in the kid’s show bags I now have a Ninja and a Fashionista roaming my house.
Doing what kids do best, playing.
I can hear their laughter and chatter in the background filling the house with joy.
The Show is an annual event and one of those nostalgic trips I love to make. Following in my childhood footsteps with my children now. My sister joined the kids and I again this year, adding to my nostalgic treat.
Presented by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), The Show brings the country to the city for 12 amazing days. The Show offers everyone a chance to get up close and personal to a wide variety of farm animals and to also meet the incredible people living and working on farms.
My sister and I love to indulge in the many produce samplings on offer. We usually come away with a few new foodie treats to enjoy in the coming weeks. The kids of course plan out their show bags, one lolly bag and one activity bag. Then Aunty Deb likes to buy the one they cannot resist. We enjoy a ride each and spend the remainder of the day enjoying the many exhibits and displays on offer.
A little bit of country meeting my city kid
The detail and the extent of the work involved in this crochet display left me speechless.
We all loved the Frisbee Dogs
And then we got to meet one.
This is a Tea Cosy swapping display.
At the end of the show all the tea cosy makers go home with a different tea cosy.
Love this feel good idea.
This is a herb garden planted in a pallet.
Guess who wants one of these?
Dodgem cars with the little guy, a dream come true.
He was steering.
Aunty Deb got in on the ride action.
It was smiles all around.
No one felt brave enough for this one.
What is a Show without a Ferris Wheel.
Truth is I wanted to photograph this and I did, at least 20 times.
How adorable are these two.
We all want to live on a farm with cuties like these.
If you live in Melbourne you have until October 2nd to join in the fun of The Show.
If there is a Show or Carnival in and around you, head on out there and relive some of that childhood wonder. Go on a ride and Goo and Gaah at a cute animal baby.
Simple, ordinary and yet fabulous pleasures.
Have a great week.
PS. I held back on sharing the other 150 photos I took……maybe another day??

Oh what absolute fun. Brings back memories of Nana braving the halls with you in tow. I loved those outings
That Show bag hall, yes Nana was more excited than all us kids
No one felt brave enough to ride on those SWINGS. Oh my goodness, that would have been the first one I would’ve hopped on. It’s so nice when kids get an opportunity to get out and just enjoy the fun of outdoors. Looks like so much fun!
Sharon you dare devil. It was lovely to be outside as we are just coming out Winter and those sunny days have been rare.
